Procedures

1.     Submission of a licensing application enclosed with the following:

·        Copy of ownership deed or a certified rent contract together with the ownership deed.

·        Land and site plan issued by the Department of Land and Survey.

·        Zoning scheme issued by authorized parties as per the area (Amman, Aqaba and Municipialities).

2.     After submission of above documents, concerned parties (Municipality and City Hall) must be addressed to obtain zoning approval.

3.     After obtaining the zoning approval, the following are submitted:

·        Architectural blueprints showing all the dimensions and components of the tourist establishment, together with separate blueprints showing furniture and equipment to compare with the classification grade.

·        Submission of a feasibility study and environmental impact of projects expected to be classified at three stars and above.

4.     After submission of approvals and above requirements, official bodies are addressed to obtain:

·        Provisional approval of Civil Defense.

·        Trade name approval by Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Jordan Hotel Association.

After completion of the above, the technical report on the project prepared by the Directorate of Studies is presented to the Tourism Committee for provisional approval.

5.     Upon the completion of the project in its final form, concerned parties submit a written request to obtain an occupancy permit in which is enclosed the occupancy permit for guests issued by the Civil Defense Directorate. The Ministry carries out a physical inspection in order to issue a temporary permit until an inspection is carried out by the Tourism Committee prior to classification.

Concerned parties (owners) are granted licensing and classification after the approval of the Tourism Committee and the Minister.
